Tuesday evening found us watching a Living Advent Calendar in a Living Advent Calendar.
Confused? Let me explain.
Wokingham based Youth Theatre company Stage Fright had devised a short play around the idea of an Advent Calendar. Actors popped out from a 2 metre tall wooden construction complete with advent doors to portray scenes from the nativity story with a modern twist to them.
In their own words:
"Inspired by traditional advent calendars, behind each of whose windows you might find an episode from the Christmas Story, Stage-fright presents a series of short interactions. The dialogue has been written by the group. We hope that what you see through these windows will bring some of the characters to life."
The new play was performed by: Abby Clark, Alice Frost, Cerys McKenna, Edward Scott, Elise Martin, Emily Agg, Emma Westgate, Erin Hutchings, Harry Pelling, Lexie Margetts, Niamh, Hutchings, Paris Martin, Will Farndon and Yohannah Tadewos. It was directed by: Michael Johnson, Rosie Thomas and Hannah Whiting with a set by Paul Dosier and music by Sufjan Stevens. www.stage-fright.org.uk
