December 7th 2012 - Endre Adam at Oslar Coffee

Last night we were welcomed into the steaming warmth of Oslar Coffee in a slight change to the usual programme of outside events.

Oslars is a wonderful venue, an independent coffee shop recently opened it was great to be able to put a performance on there and support our local independents. The greatest disadvantage is that there isn't a lot of space outside for a stage set up and an audience. So it was wonderful to be able to bring the performance inside. This was also an advantage to the performer Endre Adam whose beautiful violin would not have been able to keep it's tune out in the freezing cold outside. As not an instrumentalist myself I had no idea how much the cold weather affects instruments.

Endre Adam is a classically trained Hungarian violinist, who has played in various symphony orchestras, both in Hungary and here in the U.K., and currently plays for the Reading University Orchestra. He has a wide-ranging repertoire, from the classics to romantic and popular. Music is his passion!

We were treated to a symphony of traditional Christmas carols including “Once in Royal Davids City”, “Away in a Manger”, “It came upon a Midnight Clear” and ending the evening with a surprise from the fabulous Gillie Tunley leading the audience in singing the last carol “Silent Night”.
In fact they were so beautiful and soulful we couldn't resist taking many videos rather than the usual many photos.
